New Delhi: Hyundai i20 Elite has been named the winner of the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2015. Within the second month of its launch, the Elite i20 has become one of the top selling car models in the country.

 
On behalf of the Jury of ICOTY 2015, Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Vice-Chairman & Managing Director, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd handed over the Indian Car of the Year trophy to the team from Hyundai Motor India Ltd.

The top three contenders were the Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City.

The other final contenders were the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Alto K10, the Honda Mobilio, the Datsun GO, the Toyota Corolla Altis, the new Mahindra Scorpio and the Tata Zest.

The eligible cars were judged on various parameters such as price, fuel efficiency, styling, comfort, safety, performance, practicality, technical innovation, value for money and above all suitability for Indian consumers and driving conditions. Last year's winner was the Hyundai Grand i10.

The company says the Elite i20 has been receiving laurels from both critics and customers alike and has received over 60,000 bookings and has found 32,000 buyers within four months of launch.

The i20 Elite is based on Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design theme and offers handsome looks, class-leading interiors, frugal engine options and an inexhaustive list of equipment making it an irresistible value for money proposition in its segment.

Hyundai offers the Elite i20 in a choice of either a 1.4-litre CRDi diesel engine or a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine. The petrol engine returns an ARAI certified mileage of 18.60 km/l, while the diesel unit has an impressive ARAI certified fuel economy of 22.54 km/l.

The new i20 comes with Anti-Locking Braking System (ABS) together with Electronic Brake-Distribution (EBD), four-passenger airbags as well as rear-parking camera. Apart from these features, the car is loaded with multi-steering mounted audio controls, rear AC vents, Bluetooth integrated 2 DIN audio integrated with USB and Aux-in as well as1GB internal storage, push start-stop button with automatic temperature control.

Prices for the Hyundai Elite i20 start at Rs 4.90 lakh and go all the up to Rs 7.67 lakh (prices indicative of ex-showroom, New Delhi).
