When Prime Minister Narendra Modi donned the infamous pinstripe suit with his name printed on it, the Congress party termed him as megalomaniac. This was probably the first time that many of us would have heard this word. Search it on the internet and the word is described as “a psychopathological condition characterized by delusional fantasies of wealth, power, or omnipotence.”

Now a Twitter tool has come up that analyses the language used in your Tweets that you send. The tool analyses language in the last 3,500 messages posted on Twitter. The tool claims to to be able to calculate how passionate, egoistical, materialistic and mischievous that particular user is.

A survey was conducted on 1,000 twitter users and it was found that around 72 per cent had one of these hidden personas. A third of those who took part were found to have a passionate persona while 26 per cent were materialistic and 16 per cent were subconsciously egotistic.

A psychiatrist, Dr Sandra Scott has developed the tool for red wine firm Apothic Wine. She said that most of us have a sort of hidden persona that even we are not aware of and it is interesting to see how we can unconsciously reveal this part of ourselves through the use of social media.

'It's worth noting that just because we are not fully aware of this aspect of ourselves does not necessarily mean that it is something to shy away from,” she said.

“Our 'hidden personas' can sometimes make us appreciate ourselves more and reveal qualities that we like,” she added.

The survey has revealed that Glasgow is the city with most egoistical people with 27%. Edinburgh is home to the most passionate Twitter users with 42%. Cardiff was found to be least passionate and Brighton as the most materialistic.
