Honda has finally launched its much awaited 125cc mystery bike - CB Shine SP (Smart Power) at Rs. 59,900. The motorcycle was first teased during the Honda RevFest in August 2015. The new Honda CB Shine SP is basically an updated version of existing CB Shine and the company's 14th offering in 2015. The motorcycle houses a 124.7cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled engine with Honda Eco Technology that comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox having 1 down 4 up shift pattern. With its 125cc engine, the bike delivers 10.57 bhp of power at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 10.3 Nm at 5,500 rpm.
The motorcycle is launched in three variants, Self-Drum-Alloy at Rs. 59,900, Self-Disc-Alloy at Rs. 62,400 and CBS model at Rs. 64,400 (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike is available in 5 colours - Geny Grey Metalic, Athletic Blue Metallic, Pearl Amazing White, Black and Rebel Red Metallic. The new Honda CB Shine SP is built on steel diamond frame having telescopic forks at up front and the spring loaded hydraulic type swingarm at the rear.
During the event, Mr. Keita Muramatsu, President and CEO, HMSI, also hinted about the launch of another motorcycle, that could be Honda CB Hornet 160R, next month. According to him, India is the world's fastest growing economy and is also home to one of world's youngest populations. The youngsters of the country recognise their importance in the society. The new CB Shine SP will help them to reflect the same status and take them ahead of their peers.
Talking about the CB Shine family, Mr. Y. S. Guleria, Senior Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, HMSI, said that Honda CB Shine has more than 43 lac customers making it an undisputed champion in the segment. Though the bike enjoys 46 percent market share, but still HMSI aims at further strengthening their leadership in this segment.
Since its inception, Honda CB Shine is enjoying its large market share in the segment. CB shine is one of the two vehicles from Honda, other being Activa, that has helped Honda to become second largest two wheeler seller in the nation. Recently, Honda sold 2.2 lac units in a single day, on the occasion of Dhanteras. The bike has successfully created a perfect balance of mileage and performance, the mileage of 100cc commuter and the performance of 150cc motorcycle.
