Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Ltd (HMSI) is all set to launch its 15th two-wheeler of 2015, CB Hornet 160R. Unveiled at the Honda Revfest, the motorcycle will be revealed on December 10 and will conclude the chain of launches for Honda this year in India.
The bike features brand new styling, good ergonomics and rider-friendly performance that makes it worth the wait.
This upcoming produce from Honda will feature a 160cc engine which most probably will be borrowed from its sibling, Honda Unicorn.
If so, the bike will have 14.5 bhp of power with 14.61 Nm of torque at its disposal coming from the 162.71cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder unit.
Honda CB Hornet 160R might replace the CB Trigger which failed to do well in the Indian market.
Honda CB Trigger is powered by standard Unicorn's 150cc engine with different tuning and has been offered as a premium option to the Unicorn 150.
Talking about the Hornet, it will most likely feature a fully digital instrument console showcasing speed, trip meter, fuel meter and the current time.
Also, there might be 3 variants to the bike which will have single disc brake, dual disc brakes and CBS respectively. It will rival the entire 160cc lineup of the country including Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR and the Yamaha FZS-FI. Out of these, Apache RTR will be its toughest competition in terms of performance and features.
In the Indian market, along with the features, the deciding factor of a bike's success remains its price. We expect Honda to price CB Hornet 160R in between Rs. 80,000 to 90,000.
Last month, on the occasion of Dhanteras, HMSI sold 2.2 lac units in a single day. Honda motorcycles including CB Shine, Dream and Livo lead the pack with 53% of total sales.
In scooter category, Activa emerged to be the leader recording a 50% hike in retails.
To deal with high demand, Honda dealerships across the country opened at 5 AM in the morning and delivered two-wheelers till 11 PM. Currently, Honda's motorcycle lineup in the country consists of CBR 250R, CBR 150R, CB Unicorn 160, Dream Yuga, Dream Neo, CD110 Dream, Livo, CB Trigger, CB Shine and the most recently launched CB Shine SP.
As per the latest offering Honda CB Hornet 160R, the bookings for the bike have started and soon we will see the motorcycle running on our streets.
