New Delhi, March 28: Google has officially announced that its “pure Android” experience tablet Nexus 7 is coming to India soon at an attractive price of Rs. 15,999. Nexus 7 is priced at Rs 15,999 for the 16 GB variant in India and available via the Google Playstore. The store mentions shipping time of 3-7 days so the device rollout should begin latest by the first week of April. Let's take a look at what the tablet has to offer in terms of features.Google's Nexus 7 came to Indian stores soon after Google chairman Eric Schmidt visited India. He apologized for the non-availability of Nexus products in India. "I apologize for the lack of Nexus devices in India. But this is something we are working on. Part of the problem is that our products are more expensive than what they should be here in India. Then there are certification issues. We want a fully-serviced market," he said.Made by Taiwanese hardware manufacturer Asus, the Nexus 7 is a 7 inch tablet with HD display and has a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. The screen also has a back-lit IPS display and is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass for protection.Google Nexus 7 measures 198.5x120x10.45mm and weighs mere 340 gram.Nexus 7 is powered with NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor. Along with an internal memory of 16GB and 1GB RAM, it comes with the latest version of Android Jelly bean (4.1). The Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box features a smarter keyboard, Gesture Mode, improved search, voice search, easy photo-sharing etc. Google has also released the Android 4.2 update for the device.There is also a 12-core GPU which promises better graphics while gaming.The 7-inch tablet is enabled with WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC (android beam).The tablet does not have any rear camera. Though it has a 1.2MP front-facing camera for video calling. Rivals like Apple iPad mini and Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 have rear shooters.Google Nexus 7 boasts of a 4325 mAh battery which promises up to 8 hours of active use.Nexus 7 comes with Google Now which the company says brings just the right information, at just the right time. It tells you today's weather before you start your day, how much traffic to expect before you leave for work, or if your flight is delayed.The WiFi-only device is also reasonably well-priced to compete with the likes of the iPad mini. The Nexus 7 tablet will come preloaded with Google Apps -- like Gmail, Chrome, Google+ and YouTube. The user will be able to access Google Play (that has over 6,00,000 apps) to download whatever he wants. The tablet also features Music Manager which allows users to import entire iTunes music library (up to 20,000 songs) to their Google Play account. Once the desired songs and music are available on Nexus 7, the user can listen to the same on the web or any other Android-compatible phone or tablet.
