New Delhi: Google has announced that Glass will be getting an Android KitKat update later this week. The update means an improved battery life and more reliable device performance going forward. It comes at a time when Glass goes on sale for $1500 to the public for one day.
The company's official blog states: "You've been asking us when the next round of updates were coming. Well, they're coming later this week! We know it's been a little while, but this is a big one and we think it's well worth the wait."
The update will bring 'Photo Bundles', a feature that has been long-requested by the Glass Explorers. The feature lets users organise the images and videos from their timeline in bundles letting them scroll less and see more photos unlike before.
Now users can send images through Hangouts by tapping the 'Reply' button and capturing a photo. The company is also offering a simplified voice command menu which is sorted out as per user's frequently used voice commands, making it easier to access.
In addition, a tap on the device info card in Settings now allows users to send feedback. Email, call and post feedback are also still options.
Google will also be removing the video calling feature from Glass. The company says the step has been taken because of complaints about the video call quality.
Voice commands have been improved, says Google: "When you tap or say 'ok glass,' voice commands are now sorted by recency and frequency, making it easier to see the commands you use most often and faster to access them from the touch menu."
