New Delhi: Google has launched Chromecast in India via Snapdeal, at Rs 2999. It happens to be one of the flagship products of the company's annual Great Online Shopping Festival or GOSF.

Chromecast looks like a USB flash-drive that lets people stream videos from any device to one's TV. Currently, the device works in more than 10 countries, including the United States, Germany and Denmark.

For the India launch, Google has tied up with Airtel, to allow mobile devices to stream the online videos. While Airtel users will get 20GB of free data every month for three months, the Chromecast buyers in the country will get Eros Now premium subscription for two months.

Launched way back in 2013, the device is essentially a small thumb drive-like stick that can be plugged into an HDMI port on LED/LCD TVs. It allows users to stream content from video services like Hulu, Netflix, Google's YouTube and content from Google Play. It's worth pointing out that US services like Netflix and Hulu don't work in India.
