New Delhi: Two ex-HTC employees have launched a brand new mobile manufacturing company called Kazam. The company now offers a range of new smartphones that come loaded with stock Android and, intriguingly, a policy which offers free broken screen replacement.
In total the company has revealed seven models: two higher-end handsets under the Thunder line and five lower-end phones in the Trooper line.
The first and meatiest on the list, the Thunder Q4.5 is powered by a 1.3GHz, quad-core processor from MediaTek and 1GB of RAM. The 4.5 refers to the four and a half-inch screen that boasts a lowly 854 x 480 resolution. Under the hood, the device comes with a quad-core processor from MediaTek clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with 1GB of RAM. The handset runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is powered by an 1800mAh removable battery. The Q4.5 comes has a 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus as well as a 2-megapixel front shooter. Connectivity options like 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Quad band have also been included.
Other models, like the Trooper X5.5, is being offered with a 5.5-inch FWVGA display sporting a resolution of 480x854 pixels, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front shooter. It comes with a 2500mAh battery and support for 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and quad band.
The other Trooper models include, the X5.0, the X4.5, the X4.0 and the X3.5, all come with similar specifications as the X5.5, but with varying display sizes ranging from 3.5 inches to 5 inches, like their names suggest.
Although they are still far away from what the competition is offering in the market, the devices have some uniques. Like there's a clear focus on support: Kazam Rescue claims to instantly put users in touch with a support rep to solve issues, and the company will replace your device's screen if you crack it within the first year.
Surprinsgly, there's no word on pricing, release dates, or international availability. There is still no word about a possible Indian launch either.
