New Delhi, June 27: Ford has officially launched its much-awaited ompact sports utility vehicle EcoSport in India at a price tag of Rs 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi.) The diesel variant will cost of Rs 6.69 lakh.
Ford EcoSport will be available in engine options including 1.5L petrol, 1.5L diesel and the revolutionary 1.0L EcoBoost. Out of them, only the 1.5L petrol will be offered with an optional automatic gearbox, whereas the others will only be available with manual transmission. The pricing include: 1.5l Petrol – Rs 5.59 lakh, 1.5l Diesel – Rs 6.69 lakh, 1.0l EcoBoost – Rs 7.89 lakh, and 1.5L Petrol Auto – Rs 8.44 lakh.
The compact SUV competes against the likes of Mahindra & Mahindra's Quanto, Maruti Suzuki's Ertiga, and Renault Duster and attract buyers opting for premium hatchback Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze.
The compact SUV comes in four trims, eight colours and three engine options including the globally awarded 1-litre EcoBoost turbocharged engine.
The petrol 1.5L delivers 112 PS of power and 140 Nm of torque. The company claims that the manual transmission variant will give a mileage of 15.8 kmpl, while the automatic delivers 15.6 kmpl.
On the other hand, EcoSport Diesel 1.5L delivers 91 PS power and 204 Nm torque, with a mileage of 22.7 kmpl (most fuel efficient). The highest power is delivered by EcoBoost EcoSport: 125 PS and 170 Nm torque. It also delivers best in class mileage of 18.9 kmpl.
With an investment of Rs 838 crore, the car will be rolled out from its Chennai plant, which the company also intends to export to over 40 countries including the markets of South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan and many parts of Europe.
The EcoSport comes with Sync, Ford's voice-enabled in-car connectivity system, which means that you can operate your Bluetooth-enabled phone and USB devices, dial calls, read out text messages and browse and select music tracks via voice commands.
The entry-level Ambiente variant of Ford EcoSport offers decent amount of standard equipment including power steering, air-conditioning, electric ORVMs with indicators, front power windows, theatre dimming interior lights, Bluetooth radio with AUX and USB connectivity, dual tone interiors and remote central locking.
