Force Motors Unveils Traveller-26

New Delhi, Jan 6: Force Motors on Friday introduced ‘Traveller —26', the world largest monocoque van, priced at about Rs. 11.5 lakh along with hybrid variant of its commercial vehicle ‘Traveller' at the Auto Expo 2012 here.


It also put on display Traveller Luxury, a 15-seater van with a price tag of Rs. 14 lakh.

Chairman of Force Group Abhay Firodia told reporters that the 26-seater vehicle is made entirely from high strength pressed steel body and is also ideal for a school bus.

“The new vehicle has been designed, developed and tooled in-house by Force Motors R&D,” he said, adding the vehicle will be able from April.

He said the market for this type of vehicles is about 30,000 a year.

The 15-seater luxury version of ‘Traveller—26' is suitable for tour and travel operators, hospitality industry and corporate clients, Mr. Firodia.

Talking about the ‘Traveller Hybrid', which has onboard energy harvesting technology, is likely to hit the roads next year. The energy harvesting has been carried out in partnership with Ricardo Plc and Locomotive Technologies, UK.

The hybrid version, Mr. Firodia said, would reduce fuel consumption by about 30 per cent.

Force Motors has also put on display two CNG versions of Traveller and Trump.

The company spends about 3-4 per cent of its turnover in its research and development activities.
