New Delhi: Online food delivery marketplace Foodpanda has acquired Pune-based TastyKhana for an undisclosed amount.
TastyKhana, is backed by Delivery Hero, which competes with Foodpanda in the restaurant delivery business in many parts of the world. Post the acquisition, TastyKhana will continue to remain an independent brand, the company said in a statement.
TastyKhana has associations with more than 9,000 restaurants cities across India. Together, their footprint expands to over 10,000 restaurants in India, covering over 173 cities.
Foodpanda, the Rocket Internet-incubated startup, offers a one-stop service to order food from a selection of restaurants and take-out joints. FoodPanda is currently available in 40 countries, with a focus on markets in Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. In Russia, FoodPanda operates as Delivery Club.
Ralf Wenzel, co-Founder and managing director of FoodPanda group said, "The acquisition allow us to extend our market leadership in India."
FoodPanda serves as an online marketplace for restaurants. Customers can order food for delivery through FoodPanda's mobile app, which also gathers analytics and other information for vendors.
