New Delhi: Flipkart, one of India's largest e-commerce companies, is facing the ire of netizens after a picture showing a ‘fake' discount' for a pair of wedges on the site went viral on social media.
The picture was taken by a Facebook user Mani Shanker Sen and was posted on Flipkart's Facebook page.
In the picture, the company mentions that the shoe is priced at Rs 399, at 50 per cent discount. But looking closely at the strip of the shoe the actual printed price, Rs 399, can be seen.
Sen wrote on Flipkart's page, “Dear Flipkart Team… When ever we think of online shopping, we definitely check your site first for the product availability. You have built huge brand value in India. But these incidents damage customers' trust factor, as well as your brand value. Please see the picture attached…”
Flipkart replied to the post saying, “Sorry about this Mani. Checking on this... will have this rectified at the earliest.”
Sen also gave a link to the page in the comments section. However, clicking on the link does not take you to the product page, meaning the product has been taken down.
