Now comes the screen and display. The Lumia 720 packs a 4.3in ClearBlack in-plane switching (IPS) display with a 480x800 resolution, protected by Corning's anti-scratch Gorilla Glass 2, and complete with Nokia's own ClearBlack display technology. ClearBlack is  a custom technology designed to make blacks richer thus making other colours pop out more. The deeper blacks also serve to make the screen perform better in adverse outdoor lighting conditions.

The Nokia Lumia 720 comes with an HD front-facing camera with a wide-angle lens that's perfect for squeezing all your friends into one shot, as well as for chatting on Skype. With the front-facing camera and Lumia exclusive digital lenses, like Glam Me, you can take self portraits and add the star treatment by whitening teeth and tanning your skin. Picture perfect every time.

The 720 has an extra long battery life and a touch screen that works even with gloves or long fingernails. You can also charge it wirelessly by clipping on a Wireless Charging Cover.

Under the hood, the Lumia 720 features a 1 GHz dual core Qualcomm MSM 8227 application processor coupled with 512 MB of RAM. The RAM is the bare minimum for the operating system, but optimizations have been made to keep things speedy. However, these specs are not suitable comparing the Android handsets available in the market with a similar price tag. However, it is worth noting that the Windows Phone 8 OS is significantly less demanding than Google's. That also means, according to Microsoft, that Window's Phone 8 handsets should be able to match more powerful Android devices' performance.

The device uses the native Windows user interface, including Live Tiles. It is a smooth device. In terms of imagery it has an odd 6.7 megapixel snapper featuring a 1/3.4 inch sensor with LED flash capable of recording 720p resolution videos as well. In terms of hardware specification the Lumia 720 is lower than the Lumia 820, but the purpose is to provide a much lower price point for buyers. The 720 comes with a puny 8GB of storage which thankfully is upgradable to 64GB via its microSD slot. The device is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 2,000mAh battery which Nokia claims will last up to 13 hours and 20 minutes off one charge.

Nokia has included a fun to use online audio streaming application called the Nokia Music Mix that offers users song streaming and a ton of personalization features. Along with that Nokia Drive's updated version with traffic information has also been included in the Lumia 720 and will definitely be a great addition for explorers and even city drivers.

Along with that Nokia Lumia comes with a number of lenses or camera applications that run well on this device because of its superior camera hardware. There are lenses already on the device and more can be downloaded.

Overall, it is an impressive slab of technology that will cost between Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000.
