New Delhi: Xiaomi, a relatively newcomer in the Indian smartphone market, has made its presence felt with its first smartphone for the country, the Mi 3, receiving more than 100,000 registrations for purchase.

Packing an impressive set of specifications at a very affordable pricing, the Mi 3 is creating a lot of buzz ahead of its Tuesday release on Flipkart.

Mi India announced the milestone on Facebook, saying, "We have more than 100,000 registrations to purchase Mi 3 tomorrow [Tuesday]. To those who haven register, you only have a few hours!"

Today, these 1 lakh people who have registered for the sale, will now fight it out online to buy their handsets from online retailer Flipkart. If earlier figures are to be believed then expect the handset to go out of stock in minutes. So even for those who have registered for the handset, the fight isn't over yet.

Xiaomi, also referred to as 'China's Apple', started registration for its Mi 3 smartphone soon after the India launch.

The Xiaomi Mi 3 offers a 5-inch full-HD LCD display (1080x1920 pixels) offering a pixel density of 441ppi. It is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8274AB) processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 330 GPU. The device runs a highly tweaked version of Android 4.4 KitKat, called MIUI version 5.

The Mi 3 is listed with 16GB of inbuilt storage with no expandable storage support. It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera featuring a f/2.2 aperture and dual-LED flash while the front houses a 2-megapixel camera. It is backed by a 3050mAh battery. The Mi 3 measures 144x73.6x8.1mm and weighs 145 grams. It will be available in Metallic Grey colour.

It is also expected that the Chinese handset maker is all set to launch its new flagship smartphone Mi4, on July 22. Reports suggest that Xiaomi Mi4 is expected sport a mammoth 5.5-inch 2K (2560x1440p) resolution display, with a staggering pixel density of 538 ppi (pixels per inch), and also boast the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS, 2.5GHz Snapdragon 805 series quad-core processor and 3GB RAM with 32GB inbuilt memory.
