New Delhi: Two models from Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi — the MI 3 and Hongmi — have made to the list of the world's ten best-selling smartphones for the first time, according to the Hong Kong-based Counterpoint Technology Market Research.
The report placed Apple's iPhone 5s as the bestselling phone in the world – a position it has held for six straight months. The iPhone 5c, meanwhile, came in at second place, mostly due to the big clearance discounts in Western markets, Counterpoint said.
The biggest representation in the list was by Samsung which with its five models — the Galaxy S4, Note 3, Galaxy S4 Mini, S3 and S3 mini — took up half the list, at No.3, No.5, No.6, No.8 and No.9, respectively.
Commenting on the analysis, Counterpoint Research Director, Tom Kang noted, “We expect some changes in March and April as the new Galaxy S5 becomes available and the iPhone 5c discounts have ceased. We are also seeing good performances from the Motorola G and Huawei LTE models so there might be some volatility in the best seller's list.”
