New Delhi: Alleged screenshots of WhatsApp's upcoming Voice over IP feature show an app that looks a lot like iOS 7's Phone app. The VoIP feature which is set to roll out later this spring, were released by iPhoneItalia.

The images reveal an in-call screen, with four circular buttons to mute the call, switch to a text messaging session, direct the call through the device's speaker, and hang up. At the top of the display is the contact's name, photo, and phone number.

Calls made through this process will add a colored "call in progress" bar to the display when a user switches out of WhatsApp, which is quite similar to other VoIP apps like Skype and Line to notify the user that a call is still live.

Finally, a camera button has also been added to the keyboard interface to allow users to take a quick photo or video while messaging.

Reports suggest that WhatsApp, recently acquired by Facebook in a $19 billion deal, will not charge for the calling service in order to be more competitive. WhatsApp has yet to reveal an exact release date of the app.
