New Delhi: Opera has announced a tie up to bring its TV Store to select Samsung Blu-ray players, adding hundreds of apps to the living room. The Norwegian company said the deal "provide viewers with more choices of online and streaming entertainment for their TV screens and giving app and content owners a huge new audience".
"Kicking off in 2014, owners of select Samsung Blu-ray Disc players will be able to unlock a wealth of exciting apps specially built for TV screens", the company announces.
A note said content owners can easily transform their video and audio offerings into HTML5 apps for the Opera TV Store with Opera TV Snap, launched in July 2013. For example, official users can turn their Dailymotion channel into an Opera TV Store app simply by clicking on the "create a TV app" button. It takes less than a minute and the service is free of charge.
The Opera TV Store delivers hundreds of optimized HTML5-based apps ranging from video and games to social media and news.
The Opera TV Store will be rolling out to all Samsung series 5 boxes, as well as a select group of the series 4 versions of devices, which will bring millions of new customers to the service.
