New Delhi: India's leading e-commerce retailer Flipkart, which exclusively retails Motorola smartphones in India, has slashed the prices of Moto G by Rs 2,000 for a limited period in the country. Both 8GB and 16GB variants of the phone are now available at reduced price-tags.
The Moto G 8GB variant is now priced at Rs. 10,499 (down from Rs. 12,499), while the Moto G 16GB variant is now priced at Rs. 11,999 (down from Rs. 13,999).
Moto G has been a hot-selling smartphone on Flipkart but is witnessing intense competition from smartphones like Asus Zenfone 5 and Xiaomi Mi 3. The price tag around Rs 10,000 gives the Moto G the desired edge in the Rs 10,000 range.
Motorola claimed to have sold over a million Moto devices in India in just five months.
The Moto G comes with a 4.5-inch HD ‘edge-to-edge' display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels, amounting to a pixel density of 329ppi, and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen. The handset runs the latest version of Android 4.4 KitKat. Under the hood, the device comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (Cortex-A7) processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with an Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM.
It offers 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash as well as a 1.3-megapixel front shooter. The smartphone gets its juice from a 2070mAh battery, which the company claims will give 30 percent more talk time than Apple's current flagship, the iPhone 5s. The Motorola Moto G also features water-resistant nano-coating on the inside and outside.
Recently the alleged successor to the Moto G was spotted in a leaked image along with specifications. A report from a Spanish website had indicated the refreshed Moto G (which is expected to be called the Moto G2) to feature a similar design as the Moto E.
