New Delhi: Microsoft will bring some significant changes to its next version of Windows. Microsoft blogger, Paul Thurrott, reports that the company plans to release Windows 9 in April 2015.

The successor to 2012's Windows 8, codenamed Threshold, is supposed to bring the Start menu while also allowing users to run 'Metro' apps in desktop mode.

It's not clear if the Start menu will be made available for all versions of Windows Threshold or not. Thurrott believes it may appear as an option for those that only support desktop apps.

The next version of Windows is being positioned to recapture the portion of the PC market that's unhappy with Windows 8.

Microsoft's annual Build conference in April was expected to focus on Windows Phone and the Xbox One.
