New Delhi: India's second largest smartphone player Micromax has launched LapTab, a dual boot Android and Windows 8 tablet at the Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas. The device will be available across e-commerce portals and retail stores starting early February 2014. The company has not disclosed the price of the device.
Powered by an Intel processor (Bay Trail-M), the LapTap supports both Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS and Windows 8. Upon rebooting the device users will be presented with the alternate options to switch from Windows to Android and vice-versa.
The LapTab features a 10.1-inch IPS display having a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. It is powered by a 1.46 Ghz Intel Celeron N2805 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, which can be expanded via a microSD card slot. The device comes with a 2 megapixel front camera. With its brightness control technology, the LapTab automatically adjusts the screen content by continuously monitoring the environment. The device packs in a 7,400mAh battery.
Connectivity options include: Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and A-GPS, among other features.
The device also has an external detachable wireless keyboard cum cover with built-in embedded battery (230mAh). The accessory will hit the market alongside the tablet in late February 2014.
The company has said the tablet will be launched next month in the domestic market.
