New Delhi: LG has launched a new slimmed-down version of its pocket-sized printer ahead of the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The printer enables users to print 2 x 3 inch photos from a tablet or smartphone.
The Pocket Photo 2.0 measures 7.2 x 12.1 x 2.0cm and is 4mm thinner than its predecessor, making it one of the smallest mobile photo printing devices on the market.
The device is compatible with both Android and iOS, and users can connect the device wirelessly NFC or Bluetooth with both smartphones and tablets wirelessly to the printer via NFC or Bluetooth.
The printer uses ZINK technology, which uses heat to activate the necessary colour-forming chemicals embedded in each sheet of paper, eliminating the need for ink cartridges. The device delivers the images at 313 dots per inch (dpi).
The printer's accompanying Pocket Photo app comes with new editing features and a new set of filter effects along with a frame augmentation feature. Users can also embed QR codes in photos, allowing them to bring up a digital version of the photo on their device.
Available in pink, jewel white and lime yellow, the new Pocket Photo goes on sale in China this week and will be rolling out globally following its first live demonstration at the International Consumer Electronics Show, which gets underway in Las Vegas on January 7. LG is also expected to confirm pricing at the event.
