New Delhi, May 10: Most job-seekers are always on the look-out for those secret recipes to win the hearts and minds of employers. They wonder, what are those that unique skills and values that make employers salivate with excitement?
Besides looking for specific skills from job-seekers to perform a specific job, there are certain skills that are nearly universally sought by employers. The good thing is most of these skills are present to some extent in a number of job-seekers. And those who are weak in some of these areas ca improve their skills through training, professional development, or obtaining coaching/mentoring from someone who understands these skills.
According to a survey, most employers value what they call the “Four Cs”: Critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity. Three out of four managers think the “Four Cs” will become even more important in the next few years – and they say many employees are lacking in these critical skills. In fact, 50% to 60% of managers feel the majority of their workers are at best average in these skills.
