New Delhi: Samsung mobiles has emerged as the most trusted brand in India, beating market leaders such as Nokia and HTC followed closely by Sony and Tata, according to Brand Trust Report, India Study 2014 (BTR 2014).
The survey was conducted across 16 cities reveals 'trust quotient' that consumers place on various brands in India. This year's study involved 2,500 consumer-influencers across 16 cities in India and generated 5 million data-points and 20,000 unique brands from which the top 1,200 brands were culled.
The Brand Trust Report has been brought by Trust Research Advisory (TRA) annually since last four years to rank top 100 companies.
Out of the top 100, 75 were net gainers while 25 suffered a downtrend. Mostly major brands have performed well jumping to top most positions. The 244-page report is available for Rs. 14,000.
“Samsung has grown steadily in trust ranks over the last four years – 5th in 2011, 4th in 2012, 2nd in 2013 and has reached India's Most Trusted rank this year. When a brand focuses on its trust with intensity, apart from trust the brand gains in market-share, product premium and acceptance of new products as an automatic by-product. Samsung's strategy of focusing on the core intangibles of its brand is evident from its climb to leadership in BTR 2014,” said N. Chandramouli, CEO, TRA, while launching the report.
The fourth and fifth spots were held by LG electronics in the durables section and Nokia in personal gadgets section, respectively.
Other firms in the top ten include Hewlett Packard, Hero, Honda, Reliance and M&M respectively. The most interesting entrant in the list is M&M which jumped a whooping 69 ranks with a strong mix of advertising and strong social media campaign with consumer connect.
US-based computer maker Hewlett Packard has moved up 14 places in the annual report becoming the sixth most trusted brand, while Hero has leaped 79 ranks to number seven.
At the same time, the survey also placed Amitabh Bachchan as the most-trusted living person in India. While Shah Rukh Khan and Sachin Tendulkar maintained their position in the list, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan slipped further down the list on the trust quotient.
