The association also recognized Apple's iPad Air as the best mobile tablet for 2014. Other players in this category were the Apple iPad mini 2, the Google Nexus 7 (2013) and the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. The judges noted that "The iPad Air packs class-leading performance in an attractive and svelte frame, while its ecosystem has an undisputed advantage in the number of format-optimized apps."
