New Delhi:
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has set June 2015 as the deadline for the merger between two ailing telecom PSUs – BSNL and MTNL, media reports suggest.
According to the schedule, the HR departments of both the companies will prepare a final report by January 2015 after consultations with various employee unions. The timetable has been submitted to the Prime Minister's Office.
The merger is part of the Telecom Ministry's plans to revive the two telecom companies. The two PSUs are facing stiff competition from Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, Vodafone, and Reliance Communications.
