New Delhi: BlackBerry's much awaited flagship handset, BlackBerry Passport, will be launched in India on September 29 in Delhi.
BlackBerry Passport was initially showcased by the company's CEO John Chen at BlackBerry's annual meeting in June, alongside BlackBerry Classic.
The device sports a unique "square" design, avoiding the traditional "rectangular" display. The company is targeting business and enterprise users who use their phablets to do much more than simply downloading apps, playing games, watching videos and making phone calls. It says the phone is designed for both work and play.
The handset comes with a 4.5-inch 1440 x 1440-pixel resolution display. Reports claim the phone would come with a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of native storage. There have been rumors that the forthcoming device will come with a 13-megapixel back camera with an Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The handset could also feature a massive 3450mAh battery.
The device is also said to come with an array of connectivity options, notably, 4G LTE support, NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0 and more.
BlackBerry Passport will come pre-loaded with BlackBerry OS 10.3, BlackBerry's next-generation mobile operating system (OS). The new OS will also feature BlackBerry Assistant which is the company's answer to Apple's Siri and Microsoft's Cortana digital assistants.
Going by the specifications, BlackBerry Passport might cost users upwards of Rs 45,000, when it goes on sale in the coming days.
