New Delhi: BlackBerry at Mobile World Congress 2015 announced a new full-touchscreen mid-range 4G LTE smartphone, the BlackBerry Leap, at $275 (around Rs 17,000). The device will be launched in April in the US.
BlackBerry Leap is a single-SIM device that comes with a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) Touch display with 294ppi pixel density. It runs the company's native BB10 (version 10.3.1) operating system.
It is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM 8960 SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM. The camera options on the mid-range BlackBerry smartphone include an 8-megapixel autofocus rear shooter with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front facing camera. Inbuilt storage includes 16GB which is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB).
Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy (LE) and EDR, GPS/ A-GPS, and FM radio. It packs a non-removable 2800mAh battery, measures 144x72.8x9.5mm, and weighs 170 grams.
The handset also comes with dual-microphone for noise cancellation, accelerometer, proximity and ambient light sensors.
