Auto Expo has never failed to enthrall audiences in India and the 2016 Indian edition was no different. Although the focus was more on the four wheeler segment, there were some stunning two wheeler machines that stole the show as well. Whether it was adventure bikes, performance motorcycles Auto Expo 2016 had everything.
1. Honda NAVi
There was a lot of hype around Honda NAVi even before its launch simply because it is different from anything else in the market. Launched at a economical price of Rs. 39599 (ex-showroom, Delhi), this mini bike is powered by a 110cc engine that uses a single cylinder with four stroked air cooled technology which has also been seen in Honda Active 110 (https://www.bikedekho.com/bike/honda/honda-activa-i.html). According to Honda, the two-wheeler can reach a top speed of 81kmph generating 7.8bhp maximum power and 8.96Nm torque.
2. Hero Splendor 110 iSmart
Hero is one of the most popular brands in the two-wheeler segment of India and Splendor is one of its highest selling models. The company takes this model to another level with Splendor 110 iSmart as the vehicle being the first from Hero to be designed and built completely in-house. The bike has an 110cc engine that again holds the four stroke air cooled technology like Honda NAVi and works in sync with the 4 speed transmission system. Hero claims that the bike delivers 9 percent more power and an increased torque by 12 percent.
3. UM Renegade Series
UM has been in the news since March last year and was expected to release its Renegade motorcycles in December. However, it was the Indian Auto Expo 2016 that saw the arrival of its three really impressive models by the name of Renegade Sport S, Classic and Commando at prices of Rs. 1.49lacs, Rs. 1.69lacs and Rs. 1.59lacs respectively. The U.S bike maker would be working in a 50-50 partnership with Lohia Motors so as to bring cruiser bike that are affordable for the Indian audience.
4. Yamaha MT-09
Yamaha has brought some of its most powerful naked bikes and MT-09 was another that took the centre stage at Rs.10.09 lacs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The vehicle would come as a CBU, running on a 3 cylinder engine that has a displacement of 847cc churning away 113bhp power and 87Nm torque.
5. Triumph Street Twin
The Classic Bonneville series from the legendary automaker Triumph sees another latest addition in the form of Street Twin. Priced at Rs.6.9 lacs (ex-showroom, Delhi), Triumph Street Twin is loaded with a 900cc parallel twin 4 stroke engine giving away 80Nm torque at 3200rpm.
6. Benelli TRK 502
This Italian stunner was one of the highlights of Auto Expo 2016 featuring a 500cc engine that rushes with 47bhp power and twists away 45Nm torque. The 20 litre fuel tank would make sure that the bike is robust enough for long journeys.
7. Honda Africa Twin
The Auto Expo 2016 saw another legendary machine with the revelation of Honda Africa Twin. The engine of the popular bike is based on the same one used by Honda RX750, a bike that had won four Dakar Rally in the 1980's.
