New Delhi: Asus has announced two new mini PCs in India, the Asus VivoMini UN42 and Asus VivoMini UN62, running 4th generation Intel core processors.
Common to both these PCs is a compact chassis measuring 131 x 131 x 42mm, an Intel 4th generation processor, plenty of I/O points, and quiet energy efficient performance. The UN62 also supports 4K/UHD output capability thanks to Intel HD Graphics 4400.
The chassis of VivoMini can be easily tucked away around the back of a monitor thanks to its VESA-mountability. The company its small size makes it ideal for use in point-of-sale (PoS) terminals, digital signage, kiosk displays, or as a computing platform for small workstations.
The VivoMini UN42 features a Intel Celeron 2957U processor(1.40GHz, 2 cores, 2 threads, 2M cache); 2GB to 16GB DDR3L 1600MHz RAM options (2 Slots), and 32GB to 256GB mSATA SSD storage options.
The VivoMini UN62 offers an optional 4th generation Intel Core i3 or Core i5 processor; 4GB to 16GB DDR3L 1600MHz RAM options (2 Slots), and 32GB to 256GB mSATA SSD storage options.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, four USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI, one RJ45 LAN, one display, one audio jack (mic in/ headphone out), one four-in-one card reader slot, one Kensington lock, and a DC-in port.
Asus says that the two VivoMini PCs also support up to three independent displays through HDMI and DisplayPort++ without the need for an additional graphics card, along with output support for 4K/ UHD (Ultra-high definition) resolution displays.
The ultra-low power design on both is said to draw as little as 6.95W power at idle.
VivoMini operates in remarkable silence thanks to optimized low-speed fan settings that keep noise levels down to just 18.5dB at idle. The PCs are also designed to cope with temperature extremes — from dry, icy subzero, the company claims.
VivoMini includes a rich suite of PC remote control and cloud management software. In commercial settings, the ASUS Remote Management Tool is a one-stop solution for routine maintenance and servicing, allowing remote updates to CPU, fan, or system settings in the BIOS. Real-time BIOS updates can also be done via USB or a hard disk.
