New Delhi: The gold iPhone 5S has become a golden launch for Cupertino-based Apple. The overwhelming demand of the gold-toned iPhone 5s has led the company asking suppliers to boost production of its gold-themed iPhone 5S. A gold-colored iPhone is expected to done exceptionally well in China and India, where gold is considered to be a hot commodity. A report published in The Wall Street Journal said that Apple wants the production for the gold-themed device increased by a third.Not surprisingly, the inventory for gold-toned iPhones easily ran out soon after its worldwide launch. Across Twitter, those buyers who were able to successfully order for the gold phones online have disclosed that delivery of their units could be expected between October 28 and October 30. By contrast, the silver and space gray colored iPhone 5S devices that were ordered online would be shipped within just 7 days to 10 days for every version.Reports from lines of shoppers outside Apple stores on September 20 also showed big demand for the gold-hued phones, which Apple is offering for the first time."It's new and shiny," said one buyer outside an Apple store. Apparently, gold is a color that is always in demand, whether for jewelry, watches or fashion.Similarly, Apple's outlets in China also reported that they have already sold all of the gold iPhone 5S models they had in stock.The iPhone 5S went on sale on September 20 in the United States, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the United Kingdom, along with the iPhone 5C, a cheaper, plastic-encased model that comes in five bright colors. The higher-end 5S has and upgraded camera, faster processor and a new fingerprint sensor for improved security.Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said he expected Apple to sell nearly sell 5-6 million iPhone this weekend, based on a survey his research firm conducted of customers waiting in line to buy the devices in New York, San Francisco and Minneapolis.
