New Delhi: Big Discounts on Apple products may soon be cut down sharply as the Smartphone giant is reworking on its pricing strategy ahead of its digital and brick-and-mortar stores launch.

According to Economic Times, Apple is closing down different discounts on e-commerce portals to bring equality between online and offline prices as the company is expecting the government nod for setting stores in India shortly.

The whole idea is that the similar price on both mediums will be attracting customers to visit the Apple Stores.

The prices of iPhones on e-commerce portals are still much lower compared to offline stores. Prices for the iPhone 6s start at Rs 44,204, while the iPhone 6s Plus 16GB variant is available for Rs 49,999.

On the other hand, the prices of the e-commerce sites will increase the levels that are seen in the offline stores. Currently, Apple Authorized Resellers like Maple are selling the latest iPhones at their original price, where the iPhone 6s 16GB variant is priced at Rs 62,000, and the iPhone 6s Plus 128GB variant is being priced at Rs 92,000.

Other offline stores are selling the iPhone 6s at a starting price of Rs 54,990. The 64GB and 128GB variants are priced at Rs 64,990 and Rs 74,990 respectively. The iPhone 6s Plus, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 64,990, Rs 73,990 and Rs 84,990 for the 16GB, 64GB and 128GB variant respectively.

Apple CEO Tim Cook recently recognized the important role India will play in the company's growth over the coming years. Besides plans to open Apple Stores in India, the company has also been tweaking its strategy in the country as well. Recently the iPhone 4s and the iPhone 5c were available at a discounted price. The company is also planning to increase its market share in India, which currently is at just two percent.

Apple is also said to be planning on manufacturing and selling pre-owned iPhones, and is waiting for government's approval. It is also expected to launch the iPhone 5se in March, but we will have to wait to see when Apple brings it to India.
