New Delhi: As expected, Apple has unveiled iPhone 6 and a larger iPhone called the iPhone 6 Plus. The two new devices will be available in India startig October 17, according to Apple's India website.
The two new smartphones mark the entry of Apple to the big-screen smartphone arena, sporting 4.7- and 5.5-inch screens respectively.
While the iPhone 6 comes with a screen resolution of 1334x750p, the iPhone 6 Plus' 5.5-inch display sports a resolution of 1920x1080p. Both the devices are the thinnest ever Apple has ever made. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have thickness of 6.8mm and 7.1mm respectively.

The company has updated its M chip too which is now the M8. The sensor can now measure stairs. The M8 constantly measures motion data gathered from an accelerometer, gyroscope and compass.
In terms of button allocation, Apple has moved the sleep/wake button from the top to the side, making it easy to operate.
The new devices come with an 8MP iSight camera that features phase detection. The iPhone 6 can now takes 43MP panorama photos.
Apple has given a bump to the battery size of the new devices. Battery life on the smaller iPhone 6 has seen a minor upgrade, with 10 hours more talk time and an hour more Wi-Fi browsing time. The 6 Plus sees a larger bump, getting twice as much talk time as the iPhone 5S' 40 hours and a couple of hours more time browsing the web. The iPhone 6 Plus offers 3G talk time of 24 hours and 12 hours of web browsing on 3G and 4G.
After waiting for long time, Apple has finally plunged into the world of mobile payments, lending legitimacy to a field that has dashed hopes of some of the biggest technology companies. It has introduced a new Apple Pay service, integrated with the new iPhones and a digital watch. The service allows users to buy merchandise, scan tickets and other actions by waving their mobile device in front of a reader. There's now an NFC antenna at the top of the iPhone, which means ApplePay will function anywhere that something like Google Wallet would work.
For its NFC wallet, Apple has tied up with American Express, Visa, MasterCard, six major banks including Chase and Bank of America, and 22,000 retailers, including Macy's Bloomingdale's, Walgreens, Whole Foods, Disney, Staples, and McDonalds.
The iPhone 6 will cost $199 for a low-end model with 16 GB of storage. That increases to $299 for a 64 GB model and $399 for a 128 GB model. (All of these prices are with a wireless contract.) For the iPhone 6 Plus, you'll have to pay $100 extra: it's $299 for a 16 GB model, going up to $499 for the 128 GB model.
