New Delhi: Apple has just announced that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have broken all sorts of sales records, selling a combined 4 million units in their first 24 hours of pre-order availability. Such a record demand means that people are highly inclined to buy the new devices.

While the new iPhones are yet to launch in India, prices of old iPhones have already started to decline.

The 16 GB version of iPhone 5S, launched at an MRP of Rs 53,500, is now available for under Rs 40,000 on Snapdeal and Flipkart. Likewise, the iPhone 5c is available for under Rs 35,000 for the 16GB version while the 8GB version is available for around Rs 25, 000 on ecommerce websites.

In a statement, Apple said, "Demand for the new iPhones exceeds the initial pre-order supply and while a significant amount will be delivered to customers beginning on Friday and throughout September, many iPhone pre-orders are scheduled to be delivered in October."

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus go on sale in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK on September 19. More units will be available for purchase in Apple Stores on September 19 in these markets.

The two new iPhones will hit retail stores in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and United Arab Emirates on September 26.
