Beyonce's "Mrs. Carter" tour and Jay Z's million-selling "Watch the Throne" album and world tour, both a collaboration with rapper Kanye West, pushed the couple to the top spot on the list. Aside from album sales, Jay-Z's Watch the Throne tour alone has earned the rapper $1.4 million per show while Beyonce's Mrs. Carter world tour grossed roughly $2 million a night.

The pair also make a lot of moolah through non-musical ventures and endorsement deals: Jay Z represents major athletes in his new Roc Nation Sports agency and he holds a stake in Brooklyn's Barclays Center. Beyonce, has a successful fragrance collection, the House of Dereon clothing line and lucrative endorsements with Pepsi and other brands.
