New Delhi, May 23: By offering high-end devices at an affordable price, Gurgaon-based Micromax has grown faster than any of its Indian competitor. Micromax was also the first among a handful of Indian brands to challenge the dominance of European handsets maker Nokia, which used to enjoy over 70 per cent market share in India.
After starting at a very small level in the Indian market in 2008, the company is now now ranked among the top three mobile phone vendors in Indian in terms of volume. Global Handset Vendor Market share report from Strategy Analytics declared the company to the 12th largest handset manufacturer of the world.
Recently the company announced that it has sold more than one million units under Canvas series of devices. Let us take a look at the top five handsets manufactured by Micromax.
1. Micromax A116 Canvas HD
Micromax A116 Canvas HD is the best proposition offered by Micromax in the market. The Canvas HD has a 5-inch IPS screen that offers a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, a 294ppi of pixel density, and a colour depth of 16.7 million. As a result, the text, icons and images look much sharper compared to the Canvas 2. The Canvas HD is powered by the MediaTek MT6589 quad-core SoC. This is made up of four ARM Cortex-A7 CPUs running at 1.2GHz and a PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU. The phone sports an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a 2 megapixel front camera. The rear camera captures quality snaps in both outdoor and indoor lighting conditions.
