Mumbai: Mercedes-Benz today launched a refreshed version of the B-Class in India. The car is priced at Rs 27.95 lakh (ex-Mumbai) for the 180 Sport variant and Rs 28.95 lakh (ex-Mumbai) for the B 200 CDI Sport.
The launch of the A-and B-Class in 2013 has made made the Mercedes-Benz brand within reach for a lot of aspirational buyers.
The updates, although not many, work well in lifting the car's sporty appeal. The front-fascia now has a redesigned twin-slat grille that flaunts the massive three-pointed star emblem. The new B-Class also gets reprofiled headlights with Daytime Running Lamps. Other additions include new front bumpers with larger air intakes and new rear bumper. Buyers can also chose from 16-inch alloy wheels. On the rear, the car now has new tail-light graphics, and new design for exhaust.
Inside the cabin, the 2015 Mercedes B-Class gets new features like push button start, a new 8-inch COMAND infotainment system, ambient LED lighting with a choice of 12 colors, and new three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel. It also has new instrument cluster.
The hatchback is likely to be offered in three trim levels - Style, Urban and AMG Line.
Under the hood, things remains unchanged. The petrol version of the hatchback is powered by a 1.6-litre engine that is good for 120bhp, while the diesel model gets a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder motor that produces 107bhp. Both engines will be paired to a standard 7G-Tronic automatic gearbox.
“Mercedes-Benz pioneered luxury touring in India with the B-Class and this paved the way for our success in the segment. The new B-Class provides an unmatched value for young families, at the same time accentuating sportiness and driving dynamics which leads to the car's unmatched popularity in India,” said Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.
The company says the New Generation Cars continue to play a significant role in its product strategy and it is confident of winning new customer groups for the brand.
