New Delhi, Jan 21: Tata Motor's new SUV Safari Storme has started off on a successful note with the vehicle registering over 6000 bookings. The Safari Storme, which was initially made available only in Delhi and the NCR region, will now be available across the country.
The company is also planning to advertise the product heavily in the newspapers and electronic media through the new TVC. At a time when the company is still finding it difficult to sell cars, the Safari Storme comes as a ray of hope for the carmaker.. Based on the hydroformed chassis of the Aria, the Safari Storme is a big leap from the older generation Safari, which also continues to sell in India.
The SUV features some comprehensive improvements under the bonnet like: disc brakes equipped all round and the four wheel drive system can be electronically shifted on the fly. The interiors too have been improved vastly with significant improvement in quality of materials used.
The Storme retains the 2.2 Liter turbo diesel engine. The engine delivers an output of 140 Bhp-320 Nm and is mated to an improved 5 speed manual gearbox. The Safari Storme is a seven seater, with a 2Ʊư seating layout. The company has pitted the SUV against the likes of the Renault Duster and the Mahindra XUV500, with its four variants priced between Rs 9.95 lakh and Rs 13.66 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
