Apple unveiled its latest smartphone line-up iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in a widely covered event on Wednesday.
Look wise, both the products are strikingly similar to their predecessors, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but in terms of hardware they are much advanced. The software features available on these new phones take the handheld devices to the whole new level.
There are enough upgrades on these phones to intrigue you to ditch your old ones to buy the new gadgets.
If you have any second thoughts, these 10 features will be enough to change your mind.
Let's take a look at new features iPhones 6s and iPhone 6s Plus bring to the plate:
1. 3D Touch
3D Touch is a pressure-sensitive technology that allows the handset to distinguish between a quick tap and a long press and responds accordingly. In addition to familiar Multi‑Touch gestures like Tap, Swipe, and Pinch, 3D Touch introduces Peek and Pop. This brings a new dimension of functionality to the iPhone experience.
3D Touch is entirely new for iPhones and works through new hardware so they are not available on old Apple devices.
2. New camera- 12 Megapixel and 4K video recordings
iPhones have been king in their category in terms of hardware and software but lost to its Samsung (S6 series and Note 5), LG (G4) and other counterparts in terms of camera and picture quality.
With iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, Apple has improved its camera quality quite significantly. Both the new iPhone models come with 12-megapixel sensor and 4K video resolution, much better than 8-megapixel and FHD quality (1080p) of iPhone 6.
The company has also introduced "deep trench isolation" technology to keep the noise low which helps the camera to deliver precise colour.
3. Front camera improvements- 5-megapixel and 720p HD
In the race of selfies and video chats, iPhones fell far behind its competitors. Realising the need of its users, Apple has upgraded its front camera from 1.2-megapixel to 5-megapixel on both the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus models.
The new camera will deliver 720p HD quality which will make video calls much better and realistic.
4. A9 processor
Compared to A8 processors of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the new models are armed with Apple A9 SoC processors. The company claims that new processors deliver 70 percent faster CPU performance than its predecessor and 90 percent faster GPU performance.
5. Rose Gold colour variant
Apple has introduced some new colours with iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The company has introduced a new colour in form of Rose gold.
6. 7000 series aluminium body
Apple faced quite a flak last year when several users reported their iPhone 6 Plus and the iPhone 6 were bending. To address this problem, Apple has introduced 7000 series aluminium-zinc wrought alloy which it has used in the Apple Watch Sport edition.
7. iOS 9
Along with iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, Apple has introduced its OS update iOS 9. The new operating system has several new features including improved virtual assistant software Siri. It also has a brand new Notes app, revamped Maps app, and the News app.
8. Faster Touch ID
The company has also improved its fingerprint scanner or Touch ID. On the launch event, the company said the new Touch ID is now twice as fast, and more accurate as well.
The fingerprint scanner allows one to unlock the device, feed password to accounts, and facilitate quick Apple Pay payments with simply putting the finger on the sensor.
9. Network
Apple has improved network capabilities in iPhone 6s and 6s Plus which will support additional LTE bands. Both the phones support up to 23 LTE bands, which is the most in any smartphone. It will support internet speed of up to 300Mbps.
10. Faster Wi-Fi
The company announced that new Apple devices will have improved Wi-Fi capabilities. The device now supports two spatial streams for up to 866Mbps on 5GHz 802.11ac Wi-Fi, making it faster than its predecessor.
