New Delhi: Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has finally launched its much awaited Mi Max in India. This device comes under the phablet category of smartphones.
While the phablet will be available for sale on company’s website Mi.com from July 6, the online registration process has already begun from today. Also the company’s first flash sale is scheduled to start from this day.
The company today also unveiled the global ROM of MIUI 8.

Xiaomi Mi Max price: The Xiaomi Mi Max with 32GB internal storage and 3GB of RAM is priced at Rs 14,999. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 652 powered Mi Max with 128GB storage and 4GB of RAM is priced at Rs 19,999. The smartphone is available in silver, gold and dark grey color variants. The company also announced 3 months of free movies and 1 year of unlimited music on Hungama Play for the first 1 million Mi Max, Mi 5, and Redmi Note 3 users. Also Mi Max users will get free Batman vs. Superman movie streaming for first 10,000.
Features: The Mi Max features are similar to the Redmi Note 3. The phablet comes with a metal unibody design and a fingerprint scanner at the back. The device is 7.5mm thin and weighs 203 grams, which is considered very heavy for a smartphone. The Mi Max comes with an infrared emitter to act as a universal remote control, apart from a light sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, and proximity sensor.
Camera and battery: In terms of photography the Mi Max is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera. It comes with f/2.0 along with dual-tone LED flash and PDAF. The front has a 5-megpaixel selfie camera with beautify 85-degrees wide-angle selfie camera for photos and video calling. The device comes equipped with a 4,850mAh battery. The company claims that the battery will offer full day talktime and lasts 20 percent more than the Redmi Note 3. It also includes Qualcomm’s Quick Charge support for fast charging.
Specifications: The phablet is equipped with a 6.44-inch full HD (1080p) display. All the variants of the smartphone come with a hybrid dual SIM, allowing users to place up to a 128GB microSD card in the secondary SIM card slot. The handset supports 4G LTE with VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/ A-GPS with Glonass, and Wi-Fi.
New Android UI: The Mi Max runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and will soon receive the MIUI 8. The new UI offers some features such as App cloning, MI Lanting (this is a new font which reads better), app freezing and more. The company said the public beta will be available starting July 11, and users can get instructions on how to download and install the update through the new Mi Community in India.
