New Delhi: Xiaomi India released the Mi Max phablet at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. Unfortunately, there were difficult scenes at the event when Xiaomi fans had expressed their anger at how Xiaomi were managing the event.
The crowd, which was turning unruly at the event, had to be managed by the police. While the event was attended by around 2,000 so-called 'Xiaomi fans', the space constraints led to protest by some of them at the event, which was being held for launch by Xiaomi of Mi Max, which the company claimed is the first mobile phone with 6.44 inch display.
The head of Xiaomi India, Manu Jain, asked the crowd what was the problem and the answer was that some fans were upset that their friends were not allowed into the stadium. Also, not all fans received the free Xiaomi t-shirt to which the company publicly apologized and explained that everybody who attended the event would receive both a free t-shirt and other goodies “if not today, then at a later stage.”
A Xiaomi publicity team member said that the company did not call the police and the matter was settled amicably.
Many mobile companies have been calling such 'fans' at their launch events these days, while some of these functions are being held in stadiums and auditoriums.
