Volvo Auto India has launched its luxury sedan S60 Cross Country at a price tag of Rs. 38.9 lakh without octroi tax (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

Showcased at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show, the Volvo S60 Cross Country is the first sedan with rugged style in the country. Also, it is the first launch of this subsidiary of Swedish luxury car manufacturer in India this year and that is really a good start.

Based on the standard S60, the sporty sedan largely resembles the former one except for some noticeable tweaks.

For rough-road capabilities, the vehicle is raised 65 mm to get a total ground clearance of 201 mm. The sedan rides on new bigger and higher profile 18-inch or optional 19-inch alloy wheels.

The black cladding in the lower portion and a mix of matte and aluminium finished Scuff plates are the subtle changes that give it a bit different look.

The all-wheel drive car is powered by Volvo’s detuned 2.4-liter five-cylinder diesel motor that offers 190 hp of maximum power and 420 Nm of peak torque.

This no-compromise vehicle is a blend of efficiency and performance that cracks 0–100 in just 8.8 seconds and is able to hit a top speed of 210 km/h.

The rugged sedan is equipped with DSTC, traction control and advanced stability control as standard.

The Volvo S60 CC is well loaded with the City Safety feature such as laser assisted automatic braking that works at the speeds of up to 50kmph.

The Cross Country is decently donned to stand out among its rivals viz. BMW 3-Series, Mercedes C-Class and Audi A4.

The unique design of this premium sedan with sleek headlamps, L-shaped tail lamps and honeycomb grille, seems acceptable to carve a niche in a market which is talking currently about SUVs.

We hope that the crossover updates and the no-nonsense design might interest the Indian consumers looking for a more practical sedan. The S60 Cross Country is offered in five colours – Osmium Grey, Rich Java, Onyx Black, Bright Silver, and Crystal White.

As we said, the interiors are also borrowed from the standard S60.

All those top-spec perks are present in the crossover and that too, the best in terms of design. Leather upholstery, electric seats, a stellar audio system and dual-zone climate control, everything come standard.

A detailed and rich-looking digital instrument cluster, a centre console with keypad design and the centre infotainment display screen with all vitals such as navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, reverse camera with parking sensors, Hill Start Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, rain sensor, tilt and reach adjustable steering wheel - you'll get them all.

The safety package offers EBD, EBA, 2 step airbag, SIPS airbags and inflatable curtains, Hill Descent Control, whiplash protection (front seats), Home Safe Lighting, Personal Car Communicator with Keyless Drive, Water Repellent Front Side Windows and Isofix on outer position rear seats.
