New Delhi: To bring back sales in Delhi-NCR regions after the diesel ban, Toyota will launch the petrol variant of Innova Crysta this Diwali.

The Toyota Innova Crysta was launched with two diesel engine options, but, soon after the Supreme Court’s diesel ban, sales started to come down. So, to cope up with that, the Japanese manufacturer will now introduce its petrol version this festive season.

The Innova Crysta currently comes with a 2.4-litre diesel engine, whereas, the developing petrol variant will come with a 2.7 litre engine.

Also, Toyota is offering exchange discounts for its valued customers who have the previous generation Innova.

The new Toyota model will face a tough competition from the Mahindra Scorpio and XUV 5OO, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Honda Mobilio and more.

The Innova Crysta has been priced at Rs 13.88 lakh which goes up to Rs 20.78 lakh for the top end model.

The company had almost 15,000 bookings for the Crysta since its launch.

Earlier, N Raja, director and senior vice president (sales & marketing), Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “We have seen our sales coming down by 800 units a month in Delhi since December after the Supreme Court ban. To address this issue, we have fast-tracked the development of a 2.7-litre petrol engine. Our R&D engineers in Japan are working on the new engine. We plan to launch the petrol variant of Innova Crysta in Delhi-NCR markets by Diwali this year.”
