New Delhi: Asia Pacific has emerged as the favourite region for luxury retailers with four Chinese cities on the list. On the other hand, no Indian city has found a place for itself on the list.
According to Jones Lang LaSalle’s (JLL) Destination Retail 2016 report, seven out of ten cities on list of the world's favourite destinations for luxury retailers belongs to the Asia Pacific region.
London came in at the top spot followed by Hong Kong at the second position with three Chinese cities -- Shanghai, Beijing and Taipei -- among the top ten.
The four Chinese cities, along with Tokyo and Osaka in Japan and city-state Singapore, made the Asia-Pacific region the best place for luxury retailers to reach out to increasingly affluent consumers. The consultancy expects a surge in the number of high- income families across Asia over the next 15 years, a trend that will put the region at the heart of global luxury consumption.
