New Delhi: Sahara chief Subrata Roy has been granted a four-week parole for attending his mother Chhabi Roy’s funeral who passed away in the wee hours this morning.

Roy has been in Tihar jail since March 4, 2014, on the orders of the apex court in relation with a long running dispute with market regulator Sebi.
According to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)’s lawyer Arvind Datar, the amount to be paid by the Sahara group is Rs 24,000 crore which along with the interest amounts to Rs 34,000-35,000 crore.

Earlier, the Sahara chief also urged SC to grant permission for going abroad for "business discussions" with Bill Clinton and Tony Blair.
"Before the Supreme Court asked him (Roy) to appear, he filed an application to say that he wanted to leave India. He said he wanted to leave India to meet Bill Clinton and Tony Blair for business discussion. It is on record," Datar said.
