New Delhi: With an eye on the upcoming Olympic Games set to begin in Rio within a month’s time, Samsung today announced a limited edition Olympic Games-themed version of its highly rated smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
The Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Games Limited Edition features the five Olympic Ring colors. The Olympic symbol will be featured in key apps like contacts, dial, messages, and on the home and lock screens.
Only 14,516 units are being manufactured and almost 2,016 of them will be given to the athletes performing in Rio next month. The limited edition phone comes in black, with gold, blue, red, white and green accents, which match the colour of the Olympic rings.
The Samsung smartphone that will be given to the athletes will come bundled with Samsung’s Gear IconX cord-free earbuds, which feature an in-ear heart rate monitor.
The users will also get access to the S Health app.
Unfortunately, the handsets will only be available in select countries, which include the US, Brazil, Samsung’s Korean homeland, China and Germany.
The company had recently developed the official Rio 2016 app, which will contain the official Olympic schedule, venue information, real-time event updates, medal counts and more. The app can be downloaded and is available on iOS, Android, and Windows.
