A day after N Chandrasekaran was appointed as the chairman of Tata group, conglomerate’s patriarch Ratan Tata threw his weight behind the former TCS chief saying he has a well-deserved recognition of proven leadership capabilities.
"I congratulate Chandra on his appointment as Chairman of Tata Sons. It is a well-deserved recognition of his proven leadership capabilities," Tata said in a statement today.
"The job is complex but I am sure he will take the group to new heights while protecting values and ethics at all times," he said.
Considered an "insider", Chandrasekaran had already been inducted into the board of Tata Sons in October last year as additional director, a day after Cyrus Mistry was unceremoniously removed as chairman.
Mystry's ouster was followed by the most bitter boardroom battle in corporate history and letting of bad blood ever since
He is the first non-Parsi to be appointed for the top post at Tata Sons.
