Paytm's first big sale of this Diwali season, the 'Maha Bazaar’, which started on October 12 and will run till October 14, has received an overwhelming response with the company recording over 3.5 million transactions on day one of the sale.
Going ahead, the company expects smaller cities to drive the success of its Diwali extravaganza. “Over 70% orders are expected to be placed from tier II and tier III cities during this year’s sale,” Paytm said in a statement.
“Customers are enjoying the company’s ‘Best Price Guarantee’ across all categories as Paytm merchants have hosted unmatched cashback offers. There has also been a major push by leading brands in the country, with over 550 brands launching their official brand stores on Paytm,” the company release said today.
The company hopes to cross the 10 million transactions threshold in its three-day festive shopping extravaganza.
“The Paytm ‘Maha Bazar’ looks to promote categories Indians love to shop the most during the festive season. With our platform, we enable thousands of sellers to reach consumers across the country, thus offering a major boost to their sales,” company vice-president Saurabh Vashishtha said, adding that due to the phenomenal response every year, sellers have started to stock products at our partner fulfillment centers to ensure faster shipping for large volume orders.
The recent growth in festive season has been fuelled by categories like fashion led by ethnic wear, gifts and sweets, apparel, footwear, mobiles, electronics and home furnishings that are featuring exciting promotions on Paytm.
“Paytm has crafted its assortment of products to cater to the widest customer-base in the country and with every customer buying more than 2-3 items, the company has registered strong growth in festive sales,” the VP added.
