Reliance Industries Limited’s Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani today announced Jio’s ‘Happy New Year’ offer that will extend its free voice/data offer on Jio till March 31, 2017.
“Starting Dec 4, every new Jio user will get Jio’s Data, Voice, Video and full bouquet of Jio applications absolutely free till 31 Mar '17,” Ambani announced on Thursday.
As per the new offer, the existing customers of Jio will not require to purchase a new SIM and the free offer they are already enjoying, will now be extended automatically.
The new subscribers will be entitled to the offer till March 31, 2017.
The 4G entrant also said that the call block rate on its network has come down from over 90 per cent to nearly 20 per cent.
“Over the past months, the call block rate has come down from over 90 pc to nearly 20 pc as of yesterday,” Mukesh Ambani said.
Recalling Jio achievements since its launch, Ambani said: “In the first 3 months, Jio has grown faster than Facebook, WhatsApp or Skype.”
Besides free voice and data, Ambani also announced that “Jio now fully supports mobile number portability and all customers can retain their existing number when they migrate to Jio.”
Following its launch on September 5, Reliance Jio has garnered over 50 million subscribers in just 83 days.
To spread its consumer base, Ambani said that they have introduced home delivery of Jio SIMs.
“Get a Jio SIM home-delivered and activated in 5 minutes through eKYC,” RIL chairman said.
The 4G entrant, that disrupted the market, is offering free voice and capped data services along with free access to its digital services like Live TV, Video On Demand and music service and cloud storage.
