New Delhi: Motorola has launched the fourth-generation Moto G in India - Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus.
The Lenovo-owned smartphone manufacturer Motorola has come a long way in terms of quality, design and credibility. Its competitively priced and well-rounded smartphones have helped the company gain a stronghold in the flourishing Indian market.
Here are 5 things which you need to know about the two new smartphones:
Price and availability: The Moto G4 will be available with 16GB internal storage and will go on sale next month on Amazon India. The price of G4 was not revealed by the company. On the other hand, the Moto G4 Plus has been launched in two variants — 16GB variant for Rs 13,499, and 32GB variant for Rs 14,499. The Moto G4 Plus too will be exclusively available on Amazon India, and will go on sale at midnight.
Design and build quality: Both the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus look almost the same with a slim body, metal trim and a thickness of only 7.9mm. The back panel has been given a textured finish that offers good grip. They have slim and thin corners, a bulge on the back but is slimmer compared to Moto G3.
Moto G4 features: The Moto G4 flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display with 401ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smartphone runs on Android Marshmallow wrapped under the Moto Pure software. It comes with a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. The device comes with a 16GB internal storage.
In terms of photography, Moto G4 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture. The front has a 5-megapixel selfie camera with 84 degrees wide angle lens. It features a 3,000mAh battery with TurboPower charging support. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Moto G4 Plus features: The Moto G4 Plus and the Moto G4 are almost identical. The Moto G4 Plus has been launched in two variants - 16GB variant with 2GB of RAM, and 32GB variant with 3GB of RAM. Fingerprint scanner is also one of the differentiating factor presence.
The difference between both the smartphones is that the G4 Plus has an option to expand internal storage up to 128GB using a microSD card. Also it comes with 16-megapixel rear camera with an OmniVision sensor, laser auto-focus, and Phase Detection Auto-focus support. It also has features like Professional mode with manual controls, Auto HDR, Panorama and more.
Competitors: The Moto G4 will be up against the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus and more. On the other hand the Moto G4 Plus is likely to face some stiff competition from Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Lenovo K4 Note, LeEco Le 1s and more.
