LeEco launches smartphones without headphone jack and driverless super car

Beijing: LeEco has launched three new “superphones” Le 2, Le 2 Pro and Le Max 2 in China. The devices will be available in the Chinese market from April 26 with the Le 2 priced at 1,099 RMB (Rs 11,246 ), L2 Pro at 1499 RMB (Rs 15,330) and Le Max 2 at 2099 RMB (Rs 21,500). Along with phones the company has announced two premium televisions Le Super 4X50 and Pro/X50.

The company has also introduced their first driverless concept Super Car. The car was unveiled by LeEco founder Jia Yueting and Le Supercar co-founder Ding Lei here ahead of the Beijing Auto Expo beginning later this week and showed automated driving capabilities of the super car.

Neither of the three phones smartphones sport a 3.5 mm headphone jack. For music playback, users will have to get a USB Type-C headphones that the company launched along with devices.

LeEco Le 2 has a 5.5-inch full HD display and is powered by MediaTek's Helio X20 tri-cluster deca-core processor paired with 3GB RAM and 32 GB storage apart from a 16-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera. The phones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

Le Max 2 comes with a 5.7-inch QHD display along with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor. It has 6GB internal memory and 64GB extendable memory. Running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS wrapped under LeEco’s customized EUI 5.5, the superphone comes equipped with a 3,100 mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0 feature and connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 4G LTE, VoLTE and GPS among others.

With a very similar appearance, LeEco Le 2 Pro is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X25 deca-core chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB and 64GB internal storage variants. With a 21 MP rear camera and 8 MPfront camera, connectivity options and the battery capacity are similar as Le 2.

The Beijing based LeEco, earlier known as LeTV, is a pioneering internet and technology company with multiple internet ecosystems across content, devices, applications and platforms. Founded in November 2004 by Jia Yueting and Liu Hong, LeEco employs over 10,000 people and was the world's first video company to go public.
